Press Release Summary: Gifts of Love will host Ready, Set, Cook! on Sunday, June 1, 2008 to benefit the families and individuals they serve. The fundraiser event will be held at the Avon Old Farms Inn with new Chef Nick Muce, beginning at 11:30AM.
Press Release Body: There will be a preview event for Ready Set Cook at Sur La Table in The Shoppes of Farmington Valley on Sunday, May 4 from 2 - 4pm. Bring nonperishable food items to Sur La Table during this event for the Gifts of Love food pantry and you will receive the option to buy a ticket for Ready Set Cook on June 1 at a reduced cost of $60. The preview event at The Shoppes will consist of a chef showcase, event chefs will be doing half hour cooking demonstrations with food items from the Gifts of Love food pantry, 15% off coupons from Sur La Table for regular priced merchandise purchased on May 4th (10% on electrics), and if you purchase tickets for the June 1 Ready Set Cook event, your name will be entered in a drawing to win a free culinary class from Sur La Table.
Ready, Set, Cook! will feature a culinary cook off consisting of three teams made up of a Chef, Celebrity and Sponsor. Each team will receive a basket of mystery ingredients, some of which will be from the shelves of the Gifts of Love food pantry. Teams will need to prepare two plates in a 45 minute time period. Three special judges will taste, critique, and ultimately award one team the title of Gifts of Love Top Chef! The guests attending the event will also have the opportunity to cast their vote. The event will also include an amazing champagne brunch (Chef Nick Muce), wine tasting provided by Rosedale Vineyards, entertainment provided by the KennMorr band and a spectacular raffle. The emcee for this event will be Clear Channels Country 92.5 Cory Myers and her partner in crime, Jim Bosh will be cooking in the culinary cook off. The restaurants involved in the competition are the Dressing Room (Chef Ethan Kostbar), Max's Oyster Bar (Chef Scott Miller) and The Farmington Club (Chef Kevin Cottle).
